Christmas Lights: Buying Guide

Buying Christmas lights can be a difficult, often stressful task. With so many different colours, sizes and types available – the possibilities are endless. Here at Tony Almond, we want to make buying Christmas lights stress free and simple. Read the article below to find out the difference between the 3 main types of Christmas lights and their colours.

Types of Christmas Lights

Twinkle Lights: For great value, you can't beat the traditional twinkle lights. Wrap them around your tree for subtle, evenly spaced illumination, leaving space for all of your beautiful Christmas decorations.

Example: Lumineo Outdoor & Indoor LED Twinkle Lights (360 Lights) Multi Colour £19.95.

These lights are 27m and would be ideal for a 5-7ft tree. They also come in Warm White and Warm/Cool White mixed. The bigger size (720 Lights) would suit a 7-10ft tree.

Compact Lights: The compact lights offer a more intense illumination. The secret is in the spacing. With just a couple of centimetres between each light, you'll enjoy almost three times the sparkle that you get from standard twinkle lights.

Example: Kaemingk Outdoor & Indoor Compact Lights (1000 Lights) £31.95

These lights come in Multi Colour, Warm White & Cool White. They are 22-25m and look best on a 6-9ft tree.

Cluster Lights: Cluster lights are the crème de la crème of Christmas lights. They give your tree that luxurious, densely packed appearance achieving maximum coverage with the minimum amount of cable on show.

Example: Kaemingk LED Cluster Lights come in 3 sizes: 480 (£25.95) , 960 (£45.95) or 2000 (£89.95) lights.

They also come in Warm White, Cool White & Multi Colour. The smallest pack (480 lights) would be best for a 3-4ft tree. The next size up would be best for a 4-5ft tree and the biggest size would be best for a 6-7ft tree.

Lights with a multi function capability

All of our lights – twinkle, compact and cluster, come with a multi function capability. This means that you can have them static, twinkling, steady or chasing – or simply have a play around and see what you like best! They also remember your preferred setting so you don't have to change it every day – one less thing to worry about in the busy run up to Christmas.

Not only that but our entire Christmas light range is suitable for using indoors AND outdoors. They are completely safe, cool to touch, environmentally friendly and long lasting! What more could you want?

Colours of Christmas lights

Cool White: Cool White is a very bright, clean, white light which is a similar colour to daylight. It contains more blue light and looks brighter to the eye. Cool White lights are used to give your home a very modern, crisp appeal.

Warm White: Warm White has a very warm, yellow, sometimes even orangey tone to it. Warm White lights are used to give your home a more traditional feel and are great to visually warm up your home in the winter months.
