What you should do

To keep pests at bay, you should throw away any fruit and vegetable that is overripe, as well as keeping your basement, attic and other crawl spaces dry and well ventilated. Other tips include keeping your landscaping well maintained and trimmed, eliminating areas of standing water and storing food in sealed containers. It is also a good time of year to replace weather-stripping around your windows.

You will also want to stock up on plenty of pest control products. At Tony Almond, you will find pest control items for all requirements, from bug swats to fly killer spray for your garbage. Candle jars are great for those nights you want to eat outside or enjoy a barbecue and wasp traps are a welcome addition in any garden.

What not to do

There are also a number of things you should avoid doing if you want to keep pests at bay during the warmer months. This includes letting excess moisture accumulate in your home, and you also should not let your sprinklers spray directly towards your property’s foundation.

What not to do

Other things to avoid include ignoring little openings or cracks around the bottom of your house. You also need to make sure you do not store your winter firewood against the home. Don’t let garbage to compile either, and make sure pet food dishes are not kept out for long periods of time. If you work all day, ask a neighbour if they would mind taking your pet’s food dishes inside. Otherwise, you’re simply giving the bugs a free meal!

Hopefully, you now feel more prepared for summer with the tips that have been provided above. There is no denying that the likes of wasps and ants like to show their faces when the weather is warmer, but you don’t have to let them put a dampener on your time in the sunshine.
